![]() ![]() The sequences are never very difficult and Sea of Solitude isn’t punishable for your failures. In one of the sequences, a tower needs to be built, but is high-level in another, you’ll be forced to collect some glowing orbs while avoiding foes, but there didn’t need so many orbs or so many foes. These sequences start interesting but sometimes may take too long. Each chapter is centered around one or more of these monsters and ends with a boss fight that seems to happen to Kay in one way or another. Even though the metaphorical inner demon becomes literal outer demon plot may sound a little cliche, Sea of Solitude does that well, and rarely feels heavy-handed. Let’s talk about this monster which you’ll quickly learn as a representation of each other’s different people and problems in Kay’s life. Sur second thought, maybe I don’t need to spend any time in this world. Even though they didn’t have the chance to learn more about the monsters, it would’ve been nice. Even though messages in bottles provide some further context to the story, that would leave no doubt there could’ve been more in this beautiful city. With many knickknacks to collect messages in bottles that are hidden around each area, and that is not a big deal in this game: it is primarily trying to tell a story, and that means that you won’t be able to deviate from the intended path. Visuals are simple but compelling, and use lights and weather effects to make the settings look fresh. In the next chapter the water levels ascend and fall in light of the space and exposing its various areas that provide a backdrop for each sequence. You can go out and explore, though some areas normally do not cover much space. The sea has much to do with the buildings, and we don’t. ![]() Aside from the roofs, you can travel by boat. ![]() The world itself is small, taking place around the sunken city, but its a clever way to give different stories a certain range of life-size aspects. You might consider Quantic Dream as the studio associated with other narrative-focused games like Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls, and Heavy Rain, and Sea of Solitude, as the perfect place to play these titles. The book by Jo-Mei, published by Quantic Dream, is based on its story, with light exploration and platforms. You can find Sea of Solitude: Directors Cut on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It doesn’t last long, but it’s memorable and a must. In this Directors Cut of Solitude, you will guide her through her confrontations with these monsters, and try to determine whether Kay herself should be counted among them. The propox Kay herself has quite a semblance to the monsters she faces, a light brown, and bright orange backpack. They consist of sea creatures, ravens, wolves, andchameleons among others and it is not always clear whether or not they were friends and foes, or that they should be defeated or saved. Some try to devour you, others are abusing you, and some refuse to acknowledge your existence. Sea of Solitude is a puzzle about monsters. ![]()
